At The Preschool Programme: Over 125 students are excited to learn how to read, write, count, enjoy cultural activities, and get a head start for primary school.



VEMA offers a one-year Tailoring course. The first semester the students learn to sew a dress by hand as most girls cannot afford a foot pedal machine.

Dotto is one of the VEMA Masonry students learning to build low cost housing. He is an AIDS orphan.  Dotto and his classmates construct houses as part of their practical in the one-year Masonry course.

Sports: Life is about living it to the fullest.

In 2006, Kalebezo opened its only secondary school. There are few teachers trained for this level. Due to economic pressures, teachers miss many classes. About 10% of Tanzanian girls attend secondary school because of local customs and school fees.
Some of the girls we sponsor for secondary school are seen here working at VEMA as part of the work-study  scholarship program.

VEMA offers literacy classes for its students, staff, and adult neighbors.
Tanzania has a 69% literacy rate.
